Short description
Many findings in the macroregion Nebra make this region very interesting for research. Landscape archaeology findings have many implications for the early Bronze Age for the whole of Europe. Based on a GIS to be developed, ecological, geomorphological, economical, infrastructural and many other characteristics shall be linked with available archaeological information.
The research objectives are complex: What could have been the economic foundation of the macroregion back in the Bronze Age? Which motivations led to the foundation of settlements?
What are common characteristics and differences in archaeological findings? Are there information about the infrastructure in the early Bronze Age? Results of these questions will be incorporated into a sophisticated model to explain the development of settlements within the region.
The scientific approach tries to integrate various complex heterogenious data. To accomplish this task, a GIS database has to be developed and geospatial and geostatistical methods will have to be employed.
